APC Formula Guidelines

The APC uses the Reshel formula for body weight and the McCulloch age formula for age calculations.  The APC also uses the “APC Raw vs Equipped” formula.

This guide will determine when these formulas are to be used in the APC.

In the APC we have both raw and equipped lifters competing in the same contests.  Raw lifters and equipped lifters will not compete against each other in the normal competition.

Example; A 90kg raw open lifter will compete against other 90kg raw open lifters.  90kg equipped lifters will compete against other 90kg equipped lifters.

Example; A 90kg master 40-44 will compete against other 90kg 40-44 master lifters.  A 90kg equipped master 40-44 will compete against other 90kg equipped master 40-44 lifters.

The Reshel formula will be used to determine best lifter in the open, teenage and sub-master categories.  The McCulloch formula will be used with the Reshel Formula to determine the best lifter of master categories.

The “APC Raw vs Equipped” formula was developed in 2009 to be used in determining team champions when teams were entered that consisted of raw and equipped lifters.

APC Raw vs Equipped Formula

In bench Press only team competitions the raw bench presser will add 30% to his total to compare with the equipped bench presser total.
Example:  Raw bench press 200kg x 30 % = 60kg + 200kg = 260kg total.

In Powerlifting team competitions the raw powerlifter will add 22 % to his total to compare with the equipped powerlifter.
Example   Raw powerlifting total 600kg x 22 % =132kg + 600kg = 732kg total.

The “APC Raw vs Equipped” formula can also be used in determining “Best Lifter” in raw and equipped competitions.
